Decorating is usually the final touch to make the room look finished with personality. In today’s blog, I would like to share one of our recent projects—a San Gabriel Modern House—Entry Before and After.
The client remolded her house not long ago—painted the whole house, changed the floor and re-did the kitchen. However somehow, the client felt that she might need a professional interior designer help her put everything together and finish the house. Here are several steps we did to create that chic, modern yet inviting space.
Entry Before and After
The client used to have a much smaller chest with a burst mirror hanging above it at her entry as it showed in the following first photo. What we did is to replace that short and bulky chest with a long yet sleek marble-top console to make the whole vignette look modern and more proportional. Also, we used classic black houndstooth wallpaper to elevate the space. The muted multi-color artwork and jewel-toned glass vases are highlights for the vignette adding touch of elegance and youthfulness to the entry. The greenery underneath the console makes the space alive.
Last but not least is the proper lighting for the whole entry vignette since there is not that much natural light in this area. We used adjustable LED ceiling light fixture with warm light to light up the entry.
We also replaced the original cabinets with a bi-folding door and simple shelving system.

Underneath the stair and by the side of entry, we installed a pull-out rack, a bench and an artwork together to form a casual, relaxing yet functional vignette set.
