We all agree that Kitchen is the heart of the home and people love to gather together having fun in their kitchens specially in holiday seasons. And of course, how you style your kitchen in holidays will a set your mood for holiday celebrations. With the holiday season just around the corner, here are some tips you actually can apply to have a neat, fresh and chic kitchen ready for holidays.
- Declutter. It is kind of pyicological thing that we all feel great and pleasant by walking in a clean and well-organized room rather than a room stuffed with things, junkies from many years ago. Our excuses are always like ” I have to go through those” or I may need them one of these days ” or someone may need them.” The truth is many many years passing by, those things are still there and if you don’t use them even once a year, they can absolutely end up in your home cleaning list. And by doing so, we actually feel much lighter and less burden and stress. In case you don’t know Marien Kendall–she is decluttering guru from Japan, you can get some advises from her book: The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up: A Magical Story (The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up)
When you declutter your kitchen, I find it is pretty helpful you ask yourself the following several questions(1) Do I truly need it?; (2) Do I truly adore it?; and, (3) Would I trade inner peace for this? The answers can help curb your pack-rat impulses, allowing you to clear out and move on.
2. Storage, storage, storage. Some really cool smart storage gadgets that will save you tones of time. I find out that a lot of people mainly focus on cabinetry, appliances and some other hard surfaces when they remodel their kitchen, and spend less time to think through the storage solutions since they are just accessories and their costs are not cheap sometimes and they always can add them later on. The fact is a lot of my clients rarely spend time to think about or do something more once they finish their kitchen remodeling or they just buy a little bit of this and a little bit of that and end up with another cluttered kitchen with new cabinetry and surfaces. So, it is actually a good idea to think through your storage solutions one time when you remodel your kitchen. Sometimes, those storage accessories coming with cabinetry are not cheap.
