Good morning. The rain is back to LA this morning. So it is fresh yet cloudy and a little dark. I guess the perfect spot we are propally all craving now is by a warm fireplace in a cozy festive living room. So today I am going to share our inspiration behind our Home for Holidays’ family room.
For this year’s holiday show-house, we want to create a cheerful yet serene atmosphere for a restful holiday seasons. So here comes with this neutral color palette—cream, muted Dutch pink, pearl white, charcoal brown with a pop of pink and light blue. This color palette is inviting, warm, easy to live with, yet still reflecting a touch of sophistication with silky sheen, brass accents, crystals, fresh roses. Also, we don’t want to create a too ornate holiday decor yet still love to keep some traditional elements of the old-school charm. After all, that is why people love Christmas. So, we mix and match classical and modern furniture to make this family room fresh, fashion-forward, relevant with full of holiday glamour.
Fresh Christmas greenery is another key design element to create that restfulness vibe. We all love to walk–through the woods during the holidays, don’t we? So rather than giving green junipers a heavy traditional Christmas tree decoration, we simply keep them the way they are and use pretty rustic potteries to hold these fresh natural trees. The contrast of pottery rusticness and other refined holiday decor elements in the room give eye a break. So the mood here is you may have a big family get-together and you may be alone. But whatever your holiday plan turns out to be, you always can celebrate or just chill out here.
