Tour An Arizona Home With Bold And Dramatic Accents

It is a beginning of a new week. We thought it might be a good idea to share a home with colors, something that excites us and pleases our eyes.

We are often fascinated how designer Jamie Drake uses colors in his work—layered, rich, romantic, fashion-forward, elegant and simply beautiful. Not surprisingly, when he and his partner Caleb Anderson designed this second home for their long-time client in Arizona, color and texture plays such an important role. What surprised Drake and Anderson is their client’s taste has evolved and more attracted to bold and vibrant colors, which is different from how he wanted the home to be elegant before. here are our favorite highlights:

  1. It has a very cool open floor plan;
  2. A down-to-earth kitchen;
  3. Mix and match mid century modern with a little feminine fantasy by introducing colors, forms and textures.

A glamorous home is quite often well balanced which means there are interesting contrasts between muted and vibrant, texture and plain, vintage and contemporary, classical and modern. And at the end of the day, it is all about who live in the home and what is their story. We came across this glamorous New York family home and simply love its vibes–interesting but quiet, glam but elegant, vintage but fresh, classical but modern. Here are some of our favorites.

Tour a Newly Restored Historic French Manor

If you have to be constrained in a house for 3 or 4 months just like we have being through right now in this pandemic crisis, what kind of house you would rather choose to live in, a minimalism house or a house full with vibrant decor. I guess different people will have a different answer. It is just like that some artists need a busy urban social life to get inspired while others need that isolated quiet environment to really tap into their creativity fountain. Today, we are going to tour a newly restored historic French manor which is owned and designed by Paris-based ELLE Decor A-List architect and interior designer and his partner the 1stdibs.com co-founder William Holloway. The reason we chose this house today because we truly want to have some fun. Too often, people fear to take a bold step to play big and they are very strict on what they like and what they dislike and they will fortuitously follow the rules. But life is fun and it is more fun to take it is easy and to be open-minded. So this is kind of the vibe the house we are going to tour today indicate–an easy-going French country house with all kind of things that make you wonder.

House Tour—-A Fashionable Home at Greenwich Village

Our recent blogs have featured homes with a light and airy vibe. Today, we decide to go to a different style—a home with a fashionable flair by using  colors. Why not? Color is a therapy that heal us and make us feel good.  We have included color in one of principles of wellness at home .  Here are the highlights of our favorite spaces.

Entry

From the entry, you probably won’t tell this is going be a colorful home.  Instead a large silver artwork by Anselm Reyle and a geometric black console and dark brown round mirror make a statement by  forms and  rather keep the color palette simple and neutral. We can feel a very masculine energy here.

Library

The neutral palette continues in the living room. But here, two of white curved sofa create a very inviting, cozy and elegant atmosphere here. We feel the feminine energy here. We love how chic and stylish side tables and ottoman with jewel-tone colors just casually sit around those two of the curved white sofa . They are just like beautiful and adorable accessories for this home.

Now color starts to play in this family library. The blue color here is exciting yet very calming too. The colors on walls  and furniture pull out the color palette from an abstract artwork atop the fireplace to grantee a harmonious and cohesive feel even though bold colors are applied in this space.

Reading Area

We love this warm pink on two of  these reading settees.

Bar

A black bar cabinet and a black vase on top of is understate yet stylish and also well uses the niche space  here.

Dining Area

edc-web-house-tour-fuller04-1586874955

This blue wall by the dining area is opposite the above blue wall. So the key to use a bold color  still keeping a balanced and harmonious feel is to repeat the color in a symmetric way.  Those hanging little pendants above the dining table are just like jewels for this home. The warm brown on the velvet dining chairs is inviting and nicely contrasts with and well balances off the blue  on the walls here.
