Tour A Quiet Elegant Nashville Mansion With The Art Of Restraint

We came across this beautifully designed Nashville mansion by Richard Hallberg, a design titan based in Los Angeles, and were drawn to its sophiticated modern classic vibe. The cloud-like color palette really helps showcase the antiques from different eras and also make the home clean, cozy and livable. The layered vignettes bring in the interest and stories to the spaces. This is the kind of the home that we love to wander around and surprisingly find the new details in each visit. Here are some of our favorite spaces.

Project Reveal— A Master Bedroom Transformation With A Chic And Modern Classic Vibe

This is the second home we recently did for our client. For the master bedroom transformation, we chose a dark walnut framed king bed with contemporary couture gold leaf lines to ground the room. A curved blush loveseat balances off the straight lines and brings in playfulness and romance. The animal-print pillow on the loveseat injects a touch of chic and glamour to the space. Sunny yellow on the pillows on the bed is haqppy and cheerful. All the pillows are custom-made.

Living Room

The animal print area rug elevates this all-white space and adds a touch of glamor. It is such a creative way to put a vintage Hans Wegner coffee table and 1960s marble nesting table together–a nice contrast of textures.

Thanksgiving 2020 Decor Ideas–Living Room

We often found our inspiration by looking into nature. Nature always knows what is the best balance in terms of colors, textures and scales. In our recent hiking trips, we were fascinated how color of blue, lavender nicely contrast with earthy tones such as brown, taupe , stone grey and etc…

As our annual tradition, we continue our Holiday Show House of KHK Designs 2020-2021. And this year’s color scheme is inspired by the colors we were most attracted to when we hiked among city lines, deep mountains and coastal lines along SoCal in the year of 2020, a quiet special year for all of us.

Holiday Show-House of KHK Designs 2020–2021—Living Room

Color Palette

In our holiday show-house living room this year, we use different shades of purple as the primary color complemented by navy blue, brown, pink and orange. The overall atmosphere here in this living room is warm, inviting yet chic and romantic. The gold brass on the ottoman, floor lamp and chandelier elevate this living room with a touch of high style and glamor.

Tour a 1902 Tudor Revival House with a Modern Update

The classical design with 19th century English furnishings is always sophisticated and timeless. Today, we are going to virtually tour a 1902 Tudor revival house updated with a modern twist. Here are our favorite highlights.

Entry

The 19th-century English mahogany table is topped with an antique Chinese porcelain bowl; the front door, hardwood floors, and ceiling beams are original to the home. The chandelier is by Gaetano Sciolari, the window-seat cushion is in a Hines & Company fabric, and the throw pillow is in a Donghia fabric. The artwork is by Jack Levine.

Tour a California Coast Home with the Classic Blue-and-White Palette in a Modern Twist

The color of blue has been huge in the year of 2020. As matter of the fact, the color of blue has been always one of the most likeable colors by people globally. The magic often lies in how to play with pattern and texture to create a sophisticated and layered look in the sea of blue that is not only calm, soothing but also rich, warm and inviting, the way that we want our home to feel. Mark D. Sikies is one of the masters to often use blue-and-white palette to create a modern classic beauty in people’s life. Today we are going to tour his latest project for fashion designer Karen Kane . Mark Sikies re-imagined Karen’s dark and dated 1980 home in Pacific Palisades, California and transformed it into a relaxed and gracious Provençal estate with a vivid dance of blues and aged artisanal finishes. Here are some of our favorites.

Entry

Custom wrought-iron lanterns light the arched limestone entrance. From here, we are able to peek the sweeping staircase with a touch of blue.
