It’s middle of the week again. I hope you are all doing very well. I have couple of design projects going on simultaneously. I feel a little bit overwhelming and look for some inspiration to just keep myself going. I started to organize the photos for the events I have been to recently. I found something that really lights up my day—yes, a beautiful tabletop. I guess color and fresh flowers always stimulate my brain to release more endorphin and make me feel happy. I hope you feel the same way too.
It is one of the typical SoCal Spring afternoons in March—warm, breezy and a lot of sunshines. After Building Symposium, we think it might be a good idea to stroll around the West Hollywood neighborhood. We found this cutie gallery, M +B, a hiding gem among greeneries. The sign on the door says: Please Use the Side-door.
It turns out that today is the last day for solo exhibition of Mishan Kahn’s whimsical “Just Around the Bend”. And several workers are busy with setting up the new show.
The gallery room is all white—neat and clean, a perfect backdrop to showcase the unique artworks.
As you can see from the above video, Mishan Kahn’s artworks are about furniture and sculpture design. The art objects he creates are unusual assemblage of various of materials, usually an interplay between the handmade and the technological.

Whenever I go to Vegas, I always love to schedule some time to check out the new restaurants. Ken Fulk is one of my favorites designers based in New York and I follow his Instagram. He recently posted this awesome restaurant he designed —Sadelle’s , Bellagio. It is kind of vintage New York vibe, very chic. I really like the color palette–pink, green, blue and gold— he used for the restaurant and decided to visit this time for my KBIS trip.

I think the main successes for this restaurant project:
- Vintage and classic color palette;
- Drapes and upholstery soften the 10,000 square foot space
- Intimate lighting complements soft furnishings, wood tables, brass accents, mirrored walls and coffered ceilings.
What about food–“a breakfast-centric morning, power lunch spot mid-day, and a dinner experience at night right in front of the resort’s Conservatory and Botanical Garden as the backdrop” Click here and see reviews from foodies
Every time when people talk about California coastal interiors, it is always kind of either white, cream or blueish color palettes with signature California lay-back vibes. But not for this one. It is located right at Corona Del Mar , So Cal and has a perfect polished modern classical style with maximalism in mind. The home is owned by Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson, the co-founders of the California-based cosmetics brand Too Faced. Then, I guess you expect some big wows!
Interior designer Mary MacDonald create such wonderful color palettes for each room:

It’s February. I am really looking for some colors. I scrolled through Instagram for inspiration and found this new beauty—-a recently repainted colorful Saguaro Hotel, Palm Spring. New York based architects Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat originally designed the hotel with the vision of matching the fourteen hues to fourteen local plants and wildflowers native to California’s Colorado desert.
The Saguaro Hotel and its sister hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona became instant Instagram favorites.
Hope you find inspiration too.
Fresh flowers, jewel tones, pastel color palette, floral patterns are the elements that make spring decor exciting, fresh and chic. Here is the design project we did to perfect illustrate spring theme. It’s feline, glamor, classical yet modern and well balanced off with masculine energy.

NY Fashion Week is happening now. Perhaps no one knows the ins and outs of Fashion Week better than Anna Wintour, longtime editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine since 1988 and artistic director at Conde Nast. Donning her trademark black Chanel sunglasses and perfectly styled bob, Wintour has been a fashion-show fixture for decades. So, what does her office look like?
As seen in a “73 Questions” segment produced by Vogue, Wintour’s office in the old Conde Nast Building was tastefully decorated with a wide variety of pieces.
It’s open, airy and has chic mix-and-match of industrial, vintage classical styles. Fresh floral arrangements and French console by the doors lend the hand of ladylikeness and whimsicalness.
Love how seating area is arranged with unique vintage French chaise, chair and ottoman in cream and taupe linen. Love the cream roman shades with the black trims—a touch of fashion contour. The antique area rug with subtle red patterns pick up the red color of roses on the desk, adding a little bit of visual excitement in the office.
Love how the artworks and objects are arranged in her office —artsy and neat. The low bench just beneath the window is such a good idea to display the decor objects—it makes the space interesting and organized.
The floral pink pillows are just an elegant and warm touch for this neutral color-dominated seating area. Love Anna’s personal collections—Clarice Cliff Art Deco pottery.
Here are 5 take-aways from Anna Winter’s chic office
- Warm-tone neutral palette with pops of color. 暖色调的中性背景色， 点缀瑰丽色。
- Trimmed roman shades always give an office an upscale looking. 迁边的罗马窗帘提升整个空间的格调。
- Mix industrial and traditional to make it light and fun. 工业化与传统的结合，更显得富有趣而富有创造性。
- Artworks show the high taste. 艺术画常常代表高尚品味。
- Pillows and flower bouquets make the office feminine. 装饰枕头与大鲜花束富有女性魅力。
The inspiration for Fall 2016 color palette is led by the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism. The top ten colors begin with the introduction of a neutral: the cool and restful gray, PANTONE 17-3914 Sharkskin (new). It’s edgy yet dependable, can be paired with any of the fall colors.
For the hallway project, we painted sharkskin grey on the accent wall to create calm yet fresh backdrop for classic furniture–warm-tone mahogany console and gilded mirror. The application of this gray shade also adds a touch of modern flair in the space. It’s truly timeless. The vignette is just like a classic still-life painting, making you want to stop and be present with the moment.
September is here! Times just goes so fast. I still feel we just started a new 2016. And now it’s September! When fall starts, we are naturally attracted to the saturated warm colors. I am on the same path, too. I like colors. Inspired by Pantone Fall 2016 colors, we created room vignettes for 2016 fall season. I am so excited to share with you right here. On today’s blog, I am going to show you a super warm, fashionable and chic living room by using Pantone Spicy Mustard, Aurora red, Riverside and Airy Blue.
Spicy mustard is warm and inviting just like the sunlights in the fall. We light it up a little bit and used it on the paneling walls paired it with bold Aurora Red on a channel-back long sofa with fringe trims. The whole theme is now becoming chic and sexy. The living room is no longer grandma’s yellow sunny room, but with a touch of Hollywood glamor. Both Riverside and Airy Blue are accents colors in this room. We used them on the table lamp, decorative objects to infuse the space with some cool fresh feelings. Here is the room:
We have talked about this sofa on our blog before. Now we used in this room. Again, channel-back sofa is in and we love the vintage yet still very modern and feminine feeling.
The floral pattern upholstered chair is so elegant and feminine. The shades of pink, red, green, blue and yellow on the chair create a such nice contrast with saturated mustard and red colors. Don’t you agree that althrough we are attracted to warm fall colors in the Fall season, we still desire a chill of spring feel? So why not make it happen in our home?
The gilded bench picks up the mustard color from the wall. Now we see there is a conversation going on.
The dark brown shade on iron chandelier kind of balances off the saturated warm colors in the space yet the sparkling crystals on the lighting still emphasize the elegance . The clean-line shape of the chandelier is a nice contrast with the curved sofa and bench.
The chevron pattern lamp shades are custom-made. The pattern adds youthfulness to the space to make it fun and playful.
Royale blue vase is a jewelry box in the room.
Truly love these oversized vases. They add a modern flair into the room.
Love this flower shape plate.
Love the trim on the table by the long red sofa— very cotour.
This black-white art work with gold frame anchored the whole room.
