We visited a little botanic garden yesterday. At a first look, it seems that there is nothing happening. But when we turned around and took a close look, then magical just happened. We saw the beautiful spring flowers with the most amazing color and shape are quietly blooming in the soft late afternoon spring sunshine. Then we found more and more amazing spring blooms almost on every single branch. We were puzzled that why we didn’t see them at all at the very beginning. Maybe we have to quiet our mind first and then able to see the beautiful things that we can’t see when we are in a hurry or when we feel anxious. This philosophy also applies when we design our home. When there are too many options and we just don’t know which one to choose, maybe it is the time for us to step back and take a deep breath, just ask ourselves a simple question: which one pleases my mind?
Here are some of the photos we took from yesterday’s visit. Please enjoy!
Nature has the most amazing colors. We love this blueish purple. The different shades of blue and purple make a fashion-forward interior.
With 2020 winding down in front of eyes, we would love to share some of our insights on home trends in the year of 2021. After all, it is always exciting to look forward to a brighter future and home has grown so much closer to us than ever before when we are experiercing a long, long pandemic crisis. For most of us , home is only the sanctuary at this time that makes us feel relaxing and safe. As home will continue to be our refugee in the year of 2021, there is no resaon that we don’t want to make it better. One of the trends we have being seen is that different shades of brown are coming back strongly from brown wall paint, brown furniturer, brown flooring to brown home decor accessories. Basically any earth tone such as warm taupes, beiges, sands is surging in popularity. The trend may be an evolution from popular whites and grays of recent years since brown as an accent color works well to bring warmth to a palette heavy with those colors. And brown can also make us feel familiar and grounded at this uncertain time.
We came across this beautiful Fifth Avenue home and instantly fell in love with it thanks to its serenity and fashion-forward color palette that make us dream again. After all, it is the holiday season and our eye needs to be pleased with cheerful visual surprises.
Just in case, you are in the mood to try something fresh and different for this year’s Christmas decoration. We have several ideas for you on a modern take for holiday decoration. And today we are going to focus on color palettes. You don’t need to follow the traditional red and green color palette. The pinks, the creams, the greys, the blues and the white-on-white will give your Christmas decoration an edgy and modern feel.
We usually have a back-to-back workout schedule over the weekend –long distance hiking and running. So it is pretty tiring at the end of the day. And recover is the key for us to get back to the weekly track. We usually do carbs loading over the weekends and find it is really help accelerate the recovery. One of our favorite things to do after the hiking and running is to just chill out in our backyard by the fireside and enjoy some garden fresh–some we got from the farmer’s market and some we picked up from our backyard. We feel those rich autumn colors really put us in a festive mood.
Color and shape often impact how we feel about a space. As we are spending more and more time at home, the feel that home gives to us does matter. Today we are going to tour a gorgeous Victorian home with a cool vibe thanks to its color palette and playful geometric shapes. Here are our favorites.
Today, Benjamin Moore announced it’s color of the year 2021– Aegean Teal 2136-40, a captivating blue-green through a Facebook live video.
Selection for Benjamin Moore’s color of the year actually started months before the pandemic left people around the world reevaluating the importance of home.
The color “Aegean Teal” is a blend of blue and green, with grey undertones. In Benjamin Moore’s color catalogue, it is described as an “intriguing midtone that creates natural harmony.”
Aegean Teal reflects organic shades the team found at farmer’s markets and the belief that “the kitchen serves as a place of nourishment” and a center of community.
Minimalism doesn’t need to be stark and cold. By adding textures, vintage pieces and a little subtle warm color tones, a minimalism home can be elegant, inviting and warm. This is why we fall in love with a chic Chicago apartment designed by Kara Mann. Here are some of our favorite highlights.
Each year from September, it is often the season for the major paint companies to introduce their color trends of the next year. With Covid-19 pandemic this year, we are truly looking for something fresh to get inspired.
Sherwin-Williams just launched their theme of color trends in 2021— Rhythm . Rhythm is the secret to how the natural world stays in step. The same sense of balance applies to our personal sense of nature through how we live — and how we design. Fast and slow. Quiet and expressive. Virtual and physical. See it take shape in 40 trend colors, presented in four palettes designed to bring your own rendition of rhythm to beautiful life.
We love to stroll around the Art District and DTLA over the weekends just to explore the emerging things on art and design.
One of the fun things to do is to walk along the long long exhibition hall filled with nature light. They did a very good job to to have some faux fur on these white wicker chairs and sofas. It’s so warm and inviting. There are some greenery and pretty awesome lighting fixtures, too. Here is the close-up of the sofa. Here is the close-up of the chair. Here is the close-up of the chair. Here is the close-up of the chair.
