Dunn Edwards announced its 2020 color of the year today. Not surprisingly it is another shade of blue—Minty Fresh after PPT’s China Porcelain and Sherwin William’s Navy Blue. Now I know why all of my design and my fashion tastes are all leaning to color of Blue.
Dunn-Edwards® 2020 Color of the Year, Minty Fresh, captures the enthusiasm and optimism of a new decade. As we stand at the portal of a new era, infinite potential lies ahead. It’s invigorating, exciting — Minty Fresh!
Minty Fresh — an invigorating, sweet, cool and aromatic hue — defines 2020, as a range of grounded, garden-inspired shades heralds the opportunity for a fresh start. With this mint-infused pastel hue, we are upbeat as we take an optimistic approach to creating and controlling elements that are within our power. And, as with many shades of green, nature is omnipresent, creating tranquility and balance between stillness and progress.
It’s almost the end of August. I feel I just cannot wait to see all of the new color palettes in fall. Here are 3 colors that I start to see them everywhere and they may dominate the this coming fall season.
Chili Pepper Red— a little bit red on accessories like purses, boots, socks, …etc pairing with warm neutrals is fresh, exciting yet classic and ladylike.
Shop the color:
Cinnamon is a warm, medium shade of brown.
Cinnamon is darker than shades like tan and beige but lighter than chocolate or true brown. Its warm undertones mean the hue can sometimes look red or orange-tinged. Cinnamon color looks fashionable, youthful and sophisticated when pared with checkered patterns and animal prints.

If you’re looking for subtler colors to try this season, then sumptuous cream and beige tones are your perfect choice. The expensive-looking neutral shades are gorgeous when layered in different fabrics.
Good morning! How’s your Sunday going so far? I woke up earlier and watered my garden first. I feel it is such a bless for me to enjoy my garden in the morning. I love to observe how morning sun light shines through the greeneries with a little cute dew drops. It is such a romantic moment for me. What’s your Sunday mood? what color are you in mood for today?
We visited an art installation yesterday and it is about colorful rolling-hill landscape in Ireland. I’ve never been to Ireland and I guess people there must be very happy. You know that is true since we all have a good time on St. Patric’s Day. so here is my sunday color block mood-board. Enjoy!
One of my favorite things to do over the summer weekends is scrolling around little beach towns in the neighborhood. I couldn’t think where I can go to get some fresh cool beach breeze , explore unexpected vintage founds and enjoy my different colors of macarons. Often, the color palettes on the hight streets of these little towns are so fascinated that they put me in such a relaxing mood. I start to slow down and really take time to absorb and observe my surroundings. So, today I am going to feature color of red. Color of red refers to passion, happiness , positive vibes, high fashion, romance. When pairing with pale blue, pink , black and blush, it creates different moods.
When we are still embracing all of the shades of Pantone color of the year 2019 –Live Coral, PPG, the paint company with 135 years history just recently introduced its Color of the Year 2020—Chinese Porcelain. Just by the name, your mind starts to imagine those crisp Chinoiserie blue-and-white. Yes, it is kind of blueish color, combining rich cobal blue and moody ink blue. It’s calm, elegant, modern, chic.
Maybe because summer is here and I immediately fell in love with this color. I feel it is so ease on eyes and have a depth.
As fashion shows go on, we are inspired and love to get the looks from Run-way to Hallway. And also, we do have Fall in Los Angeles. As the foliages in the whole world start to change the colors, we also crave for the feeling that make us feel unique, warm, romantic, strong, matured and homy. So what came my mind is the color combination of tangerine and dark blue.
After those pastels and cool beach colors dominated the whole summer, this combination of warm and cool saturated colors suddenly brings us a drama. It’s modern and chic. It makes a very strong statement. This is the case study how we used this fashion combination colors in recent country-style design project and make the place pleasant and livable.
Here are 5 steps to create this fashionable dining room look:
Choose what inspired us most and make it as the start point. In this project, it’s the color combination of tangerine and blue. It’s such an interesting contrast for this country barn-style room.
Paint walls and the ceiling neutral colors as the calm backdrop for the future furnishings and pops of tangerine and blue.
Mix-and-match the style— have the modern clean-line furniture to give the room a fresh and youthful loom.
4. Chinoiserie on the screen and geometric patterns on the rug and Roman shades balance the energy between Yin and Yang, feminine and masculine.
5. Abstract artworks just leave the imagination of whoever enters the room wide open.
