This well-designed London home has everything we want– a modernized Victoria architectural bone with minimizing detail, a soft color palette of grey and white, a master mixing-and-matching of old and new, the dynamic use of natural materials such as marble, wood and concrete. the top-notch craftsmanship and a lot of natural light.
With minimized decor accessories, the classical architectural details are really able to shine and stand out.
Home in West Coast is all about light, airy and coziness. A pristine loft apartment with soaring ceilings and monumental windows in a historic 19th-century building in NYC was just transformed into a cozy West -Coast-like home. Here are the highlights of our favorites.
Entry
The loft is full of natural light. So the earthy elements such as wood panelings were introduced to anchor this light-filled space. We love this mixed-media piece by Thea Djordjadze over the console. A stump stool is just adorable. The take-away design lesson here is to have the master artwork and unique furnishings in the entry to create that wow factor while using earthy elements to delivery an inviting and understated feel.

With Spring approaching, we are more obsessed to light and airy home interiors. And what really made us want to talk about today’s home(located at Park Ave.), besides its lightness, is its way to masterfully bring past and present together with the charm of East Coast sophistication.
This Park Avenue abode gets an airy update by American renowned interior design firm Kemble Interiors. Celerie Kemble, the founder of Kemble Interiors, is well known for her signature style of whimsy and color. And we will say her style also embraces maximal-ism since she is very detail-oriented in a classical way. But when she took the project with her design partner, they really listened and incorporated client’s minimalism aesthetic in the design and created this whimsical modern chic East Coast home. Let’s take look at this home together:
Airy Color Palette: white-on-white wall paints with modernized classical chinoisorie and striped wallpaper treatments on the accent walls.
The wall paints, the furniture, the lamp shades and flooring are in a harmonious elegant light color palette of white, cream, blush and light brown while the brass on the lighting fixtures and coffee tables add touch of glamor. Greenery and fresh flower arrangements make this living space alive. The colors in furnishings of this living room actually were pulled out from a modernized chinoiserie wallpaper on a accent wall. What we want to mention here is the modern classical chandelier hanging over the living room ceiling, if this is a west coast home, this light fixture might go super minimalism style. This is where we see the decor difference between East Coast and West Coast.
Chinoisorie wallpaper nicely contrasts with modern furniture.

2. Bring the past and present together : One of the way to bring the past and present together is to modernize classical furniture and let them stand out in a light muted backdrop.
The black wall mirror, console are streamlined classical pieces with details. Same are two acrylic Louis XVI chairs flunking the console. A modern gold-leaf chandelier in this foyer truly makes a statement.

3. Pop of subtle warm colors to make this home inviting.
We love this green velvet on both wall treatments and chairs in the dining room, which is contrasting with a crisp white elliptical dining table, white floors and white ceiling.
Warm muted dark orange and brown on the pleated to-the-floor drapery panels and desk chairs elevate this all-white study and add a touch of sophistication. The chevron-patterned area rug is the star in this study.

5. A banquette in a kitchen is an effective way to bring the style and comfy to a kitchen.
We love this light blush channeled banquette—it is stylish and easy on the eyes. The artwork on the wall make this all-white kitchen interesting.
