Maria Sharapova was very engaged with her new LA home in the process of design, construction and furnishing. She knew exactly what she was looking for since she travels a lot and home is where she ultimately relaxes and chills out. Without doubt, she is a minimalism and wouldn’t want anything she doesn’t feel need. So you properly can imagine how neat her living space is. But one thing I admire her taste is that although there is a very modern and clean color scheme, her LA home is quite warm and inviting thanks to her savy art collections of many years and textures she decided to use. So here are 7 take-aways we learned from her LA home to create warm and inviting modern design.
Have a vignette for the vintage pieces.
2. Add artwork and floral arrangement.
3. Incorporate wood furniture to invite warmth.
4. Master indoor-and-outdoor living style to make the space alive and livable.
5. Have drapes even through it is a sheer panel to add softness to the space.
6. Have a functional fireplace.
7. Have a lot of textures and plush pillows.
Hope you find above information helpful.

Today’s LA weather is very nice–warm sunshine and a little bit of breeze. With Christmas around corner, I think it will be a perfect time to set up an outdoor table top and have a little bit high tea on this beautiful weekend sunny afternoon in Dec. Yes, we are just lucky enough to still be able to host a backyard outdoor party in Dec. My inspiration for today’s setup came from the designer floral fabric I got a year ago. I really like the elegant pattern of the fabric and always think how I should use this fabric for my next decor project. It looks like today is a day. The fabric will be perfect to cover my little French table for today’s outdoor party setup. It’s British, whimsical, floral and really mimics the garden. So, here we go:
Chinossorie, English china and some fresh casual floral arrangements with a lush greenery backdrop. Love the sunny day!
Here are 5 ways to host your backyard outdoor high tea party:
Just do it.
Start small—a small table, a fine table cloth will help you start the project.
Always keep your eye on antique tea cups—they are the Queen for your party.
Breakfast nook is such a cozy place where the family can hang out casually at any time during the day. Maybe it can be your great work station if you just happen to work at home. My favorite part is sitting in a sun-soaked nook area and look out of the windows in the earlier mornings and evenings. In Southern California, the views of greeneries and flowers in the garden are always stunning. For most people, this is the place to start and finish the day. Therefore, we have to make it beautiful to enjoy and cozy to relax. Here are 5 ways to create such a casual elegant nook:
Build a tufted banquette along the window and throw in some fun pillows;
Have different styles of chairs along the breakfast table by using different textiles, patterns and colors. But make sure to still keep everything cohesive;
Use some cool wallpapers or wall treatment techniques to make this area outstanding and special;
Choose an over-sized chanderlier to make a statement and make the space intimate;
Have fresh flowers to light up your mood.
You may have to do some garden works to keep the beautiful outdoor scenery.
Make the ceiling unique. Therefore, you are not only able to look out but also to look up. How fun it is!
Seriously, what will be more important to make home comfortable and cozy? I doubt that a house with a big mess and plain looking will make you feel homy. Here are 5 ways to create a home with comforts and coziness.
Have a relaxing and soothe color palettes that inspire you.
Invest a good quality couch that you truly cannot get away from. Make sure you have some cool looking pillows for the couch.
Create some vignettes like what we did in this house: books, tea pot, florals and candles. Don’t you want just relax here?
A lots of natural nights and good lighting design.
When Summer is officially here, I am more attracted to everything creamy and light. For this interior project, I use white panelings as background to keep the space airy and light. The touch of gold makes it classic and upscale. Beach photo art we shot for this project somehow enlarges the space and makes you wonder. The floral arrangements on the table bring feminine energy—elegant and sophisticated. For me, it is such a beautiful still life portrait. Time is frozen at this moment.
