Tour A Glamorous New York Family Home

A glamorous home is quite often well balanced which means there are interesting contrasts between muted and vibrant, texture and plain, vintage and contemporary, classical and modern. And at the end of the day, it is all about who live in the home and what is their story. We came across this glamorous New York family home and simply love its vibes–interesting but quiet, glam but elegant, vintage but fresh, classical but modern. Here are some of our favorites.

6 Reasons Why We Love Pink Dining Chairs

Pink is a pale shade of red that is named after a flower of the same name. It was first used as a color name in the late 17th century. According to surveys in Europe and the United States, pink is the color most often associated with charm, politeness, sensitivity, tenderness, sweetness, childhood, femininity and romance.

And today, pink has became a new neutral thanks to its versatility and multi-dimensional shades. Benjamin Moore’s 2020 Color of the Year, First Light 2102-70, is a soft, rosy pink hue.

Room Design –A Modern Glamorous Living Room with Organic and Boho Vibes

We have just designed a series of rooms with different themes to celebrate our sanctuary and refugee that nurture and calm us at this current pandemic crisis. We want to stay positive to find where joys are at home . For the design below, this is a modern glamorous living room with muted blush wall paints. It is airy, open and soft. The patterns and pops of color on the pillows bring us a summer resort cheer. We mix and match contemporary pieces with classical details to create a layered look with a touch of sophistication. It is also a pretty livable place. The wicker touch bring in a sense of organic and nature vibes. The seating area is casual, comfortable and relaxing. And artwork are a good conversation starter. Green plants bring in a sense of wellness.

We love the neutral tone in this entry.  The sleek black-top console is perfect for this narrow hallway while the artwork featured with  ocean injects calming and expansive feel. The leopard running on the stairs is for sure the super star here—chic and glamorous.

Home Tour–A Modern Classic Dallas Home with Edge

We are impressed by how the design team transformed this 1980s Georgian-style home with high glamor and edge while  keeping  its classical bone.  The house was originally designed by local architect Paul Turney and built to such a high level. So the design team decided just to add new flooring and windows with larger panes, an iron stair rail in lieu of a more traditional wooden version, and a stone surround for the front door rather than tearing down the original structure.  Other changes include opening up the kitchen and incorporating  an adjacent family room, reconfiguring the master bathroom and adding  a covered back patio for easier outdoor living.  Here are highlights of our favorite spaces. Let’s take a tour together.

The Magical Power of Textiles at Home

What makes a house home often is the coziness and warmth that we are feeling. Mid-century modern and stark minimalism have dominated our home furnishing market for a long, long time. When we pay attention to the details of these styles, the interiors usually ,from floor to ceiling, to walls ,  most of furniture are often hard-surfaced. They inevitably give us a very cold feeling. All of the hard-surface can hardly absorb the sounds. But textiles just do the opposite. So if we would like to create a soothing and quiet home, make sure you use different textile applications for our home. Today, we are going to talk about  7 benefits of using textiles at home.

1. They bring in fresh colors, textures and patterns. By doing so, they give depth, dimension and interest to any space. They simply make us feel excited.

A Modern Classic Dining Room by KHK Designs

We designed this modern classical dining room a while several years ago. The client was more into the elegance and sophistication of tradition style but would like to have a more modern and clean-lined look. Besides choosing simplified classical furnishings with modern twists, we kept walls as clean possible to provide a perfect backdrop for all of the traditional furnishings. And we added same wall-color wall trims to create depth and dimension. Continue reading
