An AmazingGlassworks Demo at DTLA

DTLA has being experienced huge changes in the past several years from new apartment condos, office buildings, luxury hotels, to shopping venues, one-of-the-kind eat-in kitchens, cool restaurants to  booming art scenes and designs. We are just literally amazed by the creative new things everyday by different artists.

For today’s design world, we cherish hand-made, craftsmanship, organic materials and their applications in a noble ways.  It is always so amusing when seeing how a  group of designers, engineers, fabricators and artists  work together to create an amazing project or piece of art.

We were recently invited to a glassworks demo by Neptune Glassworks  All of the glass materials they use are from labs and recyclable. We were just pretty blown away by how they put up such a stylish party in a totally industrial warehouse and offered such an intricate demo. Their creation of piece of sculpture is just more than amazing.

Spring Fresh Makeover

The weather has been really nice lately.  The roses in my backyard garden start to bloom.  And there was Valentine’s Day.  Therefore, I decided to do some spring make over a week ago.  The color palette I used here is magenta, pink,  lavender, gold and neutrals.  Here are some vignettes I love to share here:

Playing different shades of pink. Love the pale pink table cloth which makes everything look so soft and subtle.  Gold truly adds a touch of sophistication and class to any space.

Beautiful blooms from my backyard. I mixed purple and hot pink together.  It’s fashionable, chic and cheerful.

6 Steps to Create a Traditional Dining Room with a Modern Twist

#TBT Thursday!  Here is the dining-room project we did 2 years ago.

dining room-1
dining room-1

The client wanted low-tone yet glamours atmosphere for her dining room. There are 5 steps we took to achieve the goal:

  1. Painted the whole room in blue-gray color to create low-key backdrop for the future furnishings.
  2. Installed brown-crystal chandelier to play the low-tone.
  3. Gold-leafed peripheral of the focal wall.
  4. Stenciled roses in the notch of the focal wall to create whimsical feeling.

Mix and Match—The Spring Story of 2015

galleryart

art-3There are some mobile photos we just want to post immediately on social medias to share our excitements at that very moments .  There are some photos, however, we take from our gadgets with our hearts.  We take time to perfect them over and over again because we are so passionate about them.   Then, we go back to these photos again and again for pure joy.  They become timeless beauties in our eyes.

Spring in Los Angeles is always amazing.  We traveled a lot this year and took a lot of  photos. We chose these three photos for this design project and the end result looks pretty cool.  The room is featured with the chinoiserie wallpaper and antique Chinese rug. The clean-line furnishings contrast nicely with this whimsical background.  The mix-and-match of colors and styles of chairs and photo frames adds a sense of playfulness. Peacock is always the theme of Chinoiserie. With flower blossom, birds and butterflies,  the spring  story of 2015 is now kept in this room.
