With spring just around the corner, in case you are planning to refresh up the home, today we are going to share 5 trends for living room in 2021.
- Warmer color palettes. As we spend more time at home than ever before, we pay more attention to our home and color nomally comes first. Color often affects how we feel–light, happy, moody, romantic and enveloped. A warmer color palette is on-trend in the year of 2021 since warmer color tones make us feel cozy, relaxing, safer and grounded.
Oatmeal, chocate brown , tan and cream combined with plush textiles create a very comfy environment for us to lean to, rejuvenate and get away specially in the uncertain times.
2. Green starts to pop up among natural earthy tones to enliven any space –a hopeful message to look upto the bright future.
3. Old-world charm. Instead of stark minimalism or mid-century modern, the furnishings with old-world charm and vintage vibes are becoming the star since they bring us a sense of comfort and famililarity in the uncertain time. It is also because we are intending to create a more interesting living space by adding details to please our eye. Pieces like heir-loom antiques, classical-framed artwork, skirted table-cloth, ruffled sofa covers, vintage area rugs, unique classical-form chairs, chinoserie wallpaper, antique mirrors will help create an unique and personalized living space to enjoy.
4. Knotted light fixtures add drama and natural element to create a eye-catching focal point and coastal feel. Who wouldn’t want it specially when we still cannot travel far away?
5. Yes, a touch of yellow, please.
Yellow is Pantntone color of the year 2021. It is a happy color and will add a touch of sunshine to any space. We love to pair yellow with green, grey, brown or blush to create a very fashion-forward living space.
5. Soft edges and curved shapes create a more harmonious and relaxing living space.

Last weekend we did a small walk in China Town, DTLA. It’s quite amazing experience and we quite like the authenticity of China Town and cannot wait to go back to get some Dim-sum. This weekend we decided to visit Little Tokyo to check out what life look like during Post-COVID19.
Little Tokyo also known as Little Tokyo Historic District, is an ethnically Japanese American district in downtown Los Angeles and the heart of the largest Japanese-American population in North America. With roots dating to the 1880s, Little Tokyo is a major cultural and civic center for Japanese Americans living in Southern California. It is one of only three official Japan towns in the United States. Before COVID-19, we often came here to visit museums, restaurants, bars and all kinds of art events. Read on for our walking tour today in Little Tokyo.
As you know, we had a little get-away in Historic State Park and China Down yesterday. We actually also had a quick drive-through in DTLA at the end of the day. After all, it has been more than three months we haven’t been there thanks to the pandemic lock-down. Here is a quick video we put together.
We were invited toBarakat Gallery last Saturday for LA renown contemporary artist Robert Vargas‘s new portrait works’ opening reception. We really like how Robert’s contemporary artworks contrast with Barakat’s ancient antique collections. It is also such an amazing learning experience by observing Robert’s creating process. As a portrait artist, although his work is in abstract art, he spent quite some time to adjust lighting to make sure the lighting is right for his art creation process. I noticed that he did apply those lighting effects on his model’s portrait drawing, which is very fascinating,
And he did spent a little time to chat with his model and tried to understand him.
When he started the process, he started from drawing his eyes.
Then a lot of fine tuning.
And he finished the whole creation process without any pause.

Today, basketball icon Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were remembered at an emotional public tribute as thousands of mourners gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. And several weeks ago , we visited LA Live square just as thousands others from the world to pay our tribute to Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.
Kobe’s quote On chasing success
“When you make a choice and say, ‘Come hell or high water, I am going to be this,’ then you should not be surprised when you are that. It should not be something that is intoxicating or out of character because you have seen this moment for so long that … when that moment comes, of course it is here because it has been here the whole time, because it has been [in your mind] the whole time.”
Kobe’s quote on leadership
Kobe’s quote on teamwork
“The important thing is that your teammates have to know you’re pulling for them and you really want them to be successful.”
Kobe’s quote on hard work
- “I can’t relate to lazy people. We don’t speak the same language. I don’t understand you. I don’t want to understand you.”
- “I have nothing in common with lazy people who blame others for their lack of success. Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses.”
- “Dedication sees dreams come true.”
Kobe’s quote on winning
- “I’ll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it’s sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot.”
- “The moment you give up is the moment you let someone else win”
Kobe’s quote on resilience
- “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. No matter what the injury — unless it’s completely debilitating — I’m going to be the same player I’ve always been. I’ll figure it out. I’ll make some tweaks, some changes, but I’m still coming.”
- “Everything negative — pressure, challenges — is all an opportunity for me to rise.”
