4 Trends for Home decor in 2019

From the beginning of 2019, we have been constantly studying the decor trends by going to all sorts of trade events.  It is true that you should always choose what speaks to you. However by understanding what’s going on in the market, you can always find some better ways to express yourself. Since spring is here, it is a perfect time to fresh up your home.  Here are 4 trends we have observed so far and love to share them here in our blog.  Hope you find them useful for your projects.

  1. Chinossorie.

A touch of oriental decor, it doesn’t matter it is a vase, a fabric print, a painting, always adds a touch of whimsical to any space. Just remember, a little bit is just enough. after all, you are not an antique store.

2. Remember it is still the year of pig.

A small piggy sculpture, or a jar always adds an interest to any space and they will always remind you that —it is a year of prosperity and keep you positive.

3. Modern classic.

Yes, we still love minimalism but in a different way. We like clean-lines but with curved forms and a lot of classic details.  Yes, we are in  love with modern decor with sophistication.

Breakfast Nook Makeover

We did this house several years ago and just made some fresh-up recently.  The big change is the drapery.  This green silky drapery with Chinoiserie cornice is actually talking to the current silk area rug and the main color scheme in the dining room and living room.   I am never a big fan for a cookie-cutter brownish kitchen.  By installing this long elegant drapery and some chinoiserie decor and a modern oversized chandelier over the breakfast dining table, we really make the space brighter, much bigger, airy and organized with a touch of elegance.  Although it is still traditional, it is very chic and fresh.

5 Tips to Create an Elegant Home Office

Honestly, it does require a vision to make things happen specially you are among the chaos for a make-over project.  The office space here is not that really big and in a very old building. It does have an interesting architecture bone.  In order to keep project cost low, we just removed old wallpaper and exposed the old brick walls to keep its originality.  The result is quite amazing!  Here are the major design features:

1. A stylish office desk is located diagonally at the corner to make the space look much bigger and welcome guests. 2. Over-sized chandelier is the statement and drama and adds a touch of glamour into the office. 3. A fashionable  pink settee and purple couch contrast with the low-tone historical architecture background to create a comfortable chatting area. 4. Arts on the wall make the space very interesting and artsy. 5. Fresh flowers bring the life into the space. Who wouldn’t want to work here? Kristi http://www.khk-designs.com
