With Spring approaching, we are more obsessed to light and airy home interiors. And what really made us want to talk about today’s home(located at Park Ave.), besides its lightness, is its way to masterfully bring past and present together with the charm of East Coast sophistication.
This Park Avenue abode gets an airy update by American renowned interior design firm Kemble Interiors. Celerie Kemble, the founder of Kemble Interiors, is well known for her signature style of whimsy and color. And we will say her style also embraces maximal-ism since she is very detail-oriented in a classical way. But when she took the project with her design partner, they really listened and incorporated client’s minimalism aesthetic in the design and created this whimsical modern chic East Coast home. Let’s take look at this home together:
Airy Color Palette: white-on-white wall paints with modernized classical chinoisorie and striped wallpaper treatments on the accent walls.
The wall paints, the furniture, the lamp shades and flooring are in a harmonious elegant light color palette of white, cream, blush and light brown while the brass on the lighting fixtures and coffee tables add touch of glamor. Greenery and fresh flower arrangements make this living space alive. The colors in furnishings of this living room actually were pulled out from a modernized chinoiserie wallpaper on a accent wall. What we want to mention here is the modern classical chandelier hanging over the living room ceiling, if this is a west coast home, this light fixture might go super minimalism style. This is where we see the decor difference between East Coast and West Coast.Chinoisorie wallpaper nicely contrasts with modern furniture.

2. Bring the past and present together : One of the way to bring the past and present together is to modernize classical furniture and let them stand out in a light muted backdrop.
The black wall mirror, console are streamlined classical pieces with details. Same are two acrylic Louis XVI chairs flunking the console. A modern gold-leaf chandelier in this foyer truly makes a statement.

3. Pop of subtle warm colors to make this home inviting.
We love this green velvet on both wall treatments and chairs in the dining room, which is contrasting with a crisp white elliptical dining table, white floors and white ceiling.
Warm muted dark orange and brown on the pleated to-the-floor drapery panels and desk chairs elevate this all-white study and add a touch of sophistication. The chevron-patterned area rug is the star in this study.

5. A banquette in a kitchen is an effective way to bring the style and comfy to a kitchen.
We love this light blush channeled banquette—it is stylish and easy on the eyes. The artwork on the wall make this all-white kitchen interesting.

I like to style the modern house since they often have a clean-line structure and will be easier to add some unique objects and colors to make the spaces interesting rather dull and boring. For the recent project we just did, we approached Client’s interiors in 5 ways to cope with her busy career and her love of modern interiors.
Declutter those she really doesn’t need and those she will not be inspired or feel pleasant with.
Add some quality pieces such as detail-oriented decorative pillows, one-of-the-kind chandeliers based on the pieces the client already has and no need to get rid of at the current moment. For this project, the pieces that the client would like to keep and also inspire me for designing the rest of the decor are this brown leather swivel chair and Moroccan rug from West Elm.
Re-arrange the current floor plan to make it more open and functional.
Casually add some artwork that sing with the interiors.
Dare to choose bold patterns. For this project, we use houndstooth and stripe pattens to contrast with Moroccan rug pattern and add visual interest to the space.
Please check out before-and-after photos for part of the project.

One of the trends in the recent years is that people more prefer the modern interiors with soften touches. These can be soften color palettes, silk or velvet fabric choices or floral patterns on textiles, decor objects or surfaces. The floral patterns can work as an magic wand for any interiors. They light up the home with a touch of elegancy. The keys to make them look fresh are 1)just use right amounts of the patterns; 2) have a contrast with surroundings; 3) with a modern twist.
In case you are in the process to bring more spring cheers to home, there are 5 ways to bring florals to home:
Upholster an accent chair with floral-patterned fabric to live up any rather darkened spaces.
An floral patterned chair always make us feel moody and romantic.
2. Yes, a floral tablecloth please.
A floral tablecloth instantly light up this corner. A spring party is ready.
3. A floral daybed drape.
Ladies, this is how we pamper ourselves—a cozy den, a floral drape and fresh flowers. what else can we expect?
It’s summer time. Wouldn’t you agree with me that there is always a lot of fun to change a little bit here and there in home ? Truly, life is really about living every day beautifully. For this restyling project in the video, we did several changes:
The weather has been really nice lately. The roses in my backyard garden start to bloom. And there was Valentine’s Day. Therefore, I decided to do some spring make over a week ago. The color palette I used here is magenta, pink, lavender, gold and neutrals. Here are some vignettes I love to share here:
Playing different shades of pink. Love the pale pink table cloth which makes everything look so soft and subtle. Gold truly adds a touch of sophistication and class to any space.Beautiful blooms from my backyard. I mixed purple and hot pink together. It’s fashionable, chic and cheerful.a little vignette for love!the corner of our dining room.
