9 Tips to Clean Brass

Brass is here to stay regardless how quite a few influencers or bloggers said it is going to tone down for the home furnishing market in the year of 2020. First of all, not all brass products create equal. Second of all, brass is here to stay after we went to visited Las Vegas Market earlier this year and were invited over to many many trend reports for the past 5 months. Third, just as the design has been always evolving, this is the same for brass decor objects. We have been seeing a lot of brass applications in modern design in lighting fixtures, furniture, decorative plumbings, tiles, tabletops. Also, brass can be a very timeless decor piece and it all depends on how you pair them with other materials and objects. We love to use brass for our design projects since it always adds a touch of luxury to any space.

Peek Inside Diana von Furstenburg’s Manhattan Home

Diana von Furstenburg is a powerful woman not only in fashion industry but also an active philanthropist. She sits on the board of Vital Voices, an organization that empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs, and also serves as a Director of The Diller – von Furstenberg Family Foundation, through which the designer has donated to several important causes. Yesterday, in honor of International Women’s Day, she teamed up with Amazon to launch In Charge store featuring inspirational women-owned small businesses. She described her design style for her fashion in 1985 “[There are] three essential F’s in designing for women…flattering, feminine, and, above all, functional.” And she loves life. So, we couldn’t help but wander what her homes look like. Luckily, Artuitect Digest visited her Manhattan home in 2017. So let’s take a look at designer’s Manhattan home together.

Las Vegas Winter Market 2020 Trip II–in the Hotel

One of fun things to do when we stay in Las Vegas hotel is to stroll around in the hotel and check out new restaurants for food and fresh design. As you know, Vegas is so savvy at entertaining its guests from all over world. And what we see here usually will lead the trends both in design and food industries globally.

So in the morning of our second day in Vegas, we took a little bit time to explore around and we found this new cool restaurant in our hotel–Park MGM. By the way, if you haven’t read our first blog about our hotel room, you can click here . So for this new-found restaurant, I love its several floor-to-ceiling large windows, color palette and the way it incorporate fireplaces and bookshelves in its dining space. So the overall vibes are airy , homy and intimate.

We often have fun to mix high and low, old and new and of course different aesthetics. Mixing of all kinds will add interest and character into the space. In order to keep the cohesive vibe overall, we will have to use some common elements to thread through the different layers. And here is the case study for the corner space for the project we recently designed. We would like to create a chic, fresh, elegant, polished decor style while still keeping it inviting and cozy. 5 Ways to Transform your Home with Beautiful Rugs

The weather drops so low in LA today. And this is just reminding us that winter is still here. Well, you might already take away all of your holiday decor that made your home cozy and warm. There is one magical item that you really should still keep it around. Yes, rug, please. As matter of the fact, you should keep several of rugs in your home–runner for your kitchen and hallway, a large area statement area rug for your living room, a faux fur rug for your relaxing corner and rug-on-rug-on-rug style to bring in pattern, color and some casual bohemian vibes. In the following, we will talk about how different style of rugs can transform and elevate your home in a second.

A touch of coziness.

For this newly designed project we just did recently, we throw a cream faux fur rug under a clean-lined modernized classical gilded chair to make the corner of this all-white room warm, cozy, inviting and romantic.

For the study room project we did several years ago, we also had this faux fur rug by the window seat to create that a cozy and relaxing zone in the study.

2. A wow factor statement.

For this entry we did several years ago in Walnut, we used an emerald green silky rug with geometric lines to eco the circle design at the edge of the entry table.

This is the entry for one of our holiday show-houses a couple of year ago. We love this large floral pattern rug at the entry to wow the guest.

3. To keep cohesive through rooms and holistic decor.

We did this modern house project last year. We actually keep the client’s Moroccan style rug and start to curate the whole house decor based on the color palette on the rug.

4. Add a touch of whimsical and interest by stacking different rugs together casually.
