I like to style the modern house since they often have a clean-line structure and will be easier to add some unique objects and colors to make the spaces interesting rather dull and boring. For the recent project we just did, we approached Client’s interiors in 5 ways to cope with her busy career and her love of modern interiors.
Declutter those she really doesn’t need and those she will not be inspired or feel pleasant with.
Add some quality pieces such as detail-oriented decorative pillows, one-of-the-kind chandeliers based on the pieces the client already has and no need to get rid of at the current moment. For this project, the pieces that the client would like to keep and also inspire me for designing the rest of the decor are this brown leather swivel chair and Moroccan rug from West Elm.
Re-arrange the current floor plan to make it more open and functional.
Casually add some artwork that sing with the interiors.
Dare to choose bold patterns. For this project, we use houndstooth and stripe pattens to contrast with Moroccan rug pattern and add visual interest to the space.

Often when my clients did their renovation, one of the challenges they face and would like to solve is to have more storages aesthetically. After doing so many projects, I find out that vertical walls are actually pretty under-estimated spaces that could leverage and provide the solutions for the most make-over cases. Here are 7 ideas for wall display and storage that are not only functional but elevate the rooms as well. let’s take a look.
Float a sleek shoe cabinet behind the entry door , so you can organize your shoes neatly and nicely.
One of the things I am passionate about all the time is to set up a tabletop for whatever the reasons . It’s fun and it’s about celebrating life with beautiful things. Here are 5 elements to successfully set up a table:
Runners, placemats, or fresh-patterned tablecloth
Floral enter piece

Industrial style is still going pretty strong in Los Angeles–concrete, gray-white-black color palette, organic forms and casual vibes, …etc. A lot of objects and furnishings are mainly from local artists. So, they are very detail-oriented. This weekend, we were invited by a loft showroom opening. Please take a tour with me.
Decorating is usually the final touch to make the room look finished with personality. In today’s blog, I would like to share one of our recent projects—a San Gabriel Modern House—Entry Before and After.
The client remolded her house not long ago—painted the whole house, changed the floor and re-did the kitchen. However somehow, the client felt that she might need a professional interior designer help her put everything together and finish the house. Here are several steps we did to create that chic, modern yet inviting space.
Entry Before and After
The client used to have a much smaller chest with a burst mirror hanging above it at her entry as it showed in the following first photo. What we did is to replace that short and bulky chest with a long yet sleek marble-top console to make the whole vignette look modern and more proportional. Also, we used classic black houndstooth wallpaper to elevate the space. The muted multi-color artwork and jewel-toned glass vases are highlights for the vignette adding touch of elegance and youthfulness to the entry. The greenery underneath the console makes the space alive.
Last but not least is the proper lighting for the whole entry vignette since there is not that much natural light in this area. We used adjustable LED ceiling light fixture with warm light to light up the entry.
We also replaced the original cabinets with a bi-folding door and simple shelving system.
Underneath the stair and by the side of entry, we installed a pull-out rack, a bench and an artwork together to form a casual, relaxing yet functional vignette set.
