Spring Blooms

We visited a little botanic garden yesterday. At a first look, it seems that there is nothing happening. But when we turned around and took a close look, then magical just happened. We saw the beautiful spring flowers with the most amazing color and shape are quietly blooming in the soft late afternoon spring sunshine. Then we found more and more amazing spring blooms almost on every single branch. We were puzzled that why we didn’t see them at all at the very beginning. Maybe we have to quiet our mind first and then able to see the beautiful things that we can’t see when we are in a hurry or when we feel anxious. This philosophy also applies when we design our home. When there are too many options and we just don’t know which one to choose, maybe it is the time for us to step back and take a deep breath, just ask ourselves a simple question: which one pleases my mind?

Here are some of the photos we took from yesterday’s visit. Please enjoy!

Nature has the most amazing colors. We love this blueish purple. The different shades of blue and purple make a fashion-forward interior.

Holiday Long Weekends—Outdoor

After several rains in Feb. in SoCal, we are in full steam to spring. The passing weekends are quite special—-Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day and Presidential Day. Hope you are enjoying this beautiful time with your families and loved ones. We did two-day back-back hiking, one is by the coastal and another one is in inland. It was just so much fun to experience the different terrains. And we set up a picnic after both hiking.

Day One

We always found the most amazing plantations by the coastal lines. The blues and purples are one of our favorite colors to find in nature here. Our this year’s Valentine tablescape color scheme is inspired by these gorgeous colors that surround us whenever we hike in this area.

Weekend Hiking

This weekend we did another hike in Irvine Shady Canyon trail .

The Shady Canyon Trail is an incredibly scenic route along Shady Canyon Drive in southern Irvine. Extending through the southern reaches of the historic Irvine Ranch and protected Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks, the trail is a hilly challenge well worth the effort for its dramatic views. And there are so many branch trails to explore.

The weather was nice and the views were just stunning for this weekend.
