The neutrals never go out of style. They not only create a calming and soothing home, but also can serve as a sophiticated backdrop for one-of-the-kind artworks and stylish furnishings that reflect who yo are and tell your own stories . Artist Josh Yöung’s Chicago home is such a example.
The neutral color palette in the residential design will still dominate the year of 2021. We are drawn to the soothing and calming neutral color palette in this newly renovated San Francisco home which provides a perfect backdrop to showcase the breathtaking lush views outside of the window. The attention to detail, the contour touches, the well-made custom furnishings and the artwork collections truly help elevate this Francisco home in an understated way.
The first thing we are attracted to a home often is its color palette, something that pleases our eye. Then, what makes us pause and start to really study each space is how it is layered up by leveraging texture, lighting, shadow,..etc. It is in the middle of the week , we would like to give you a tour to a seaside Connecticut retreat with a relaxing meditation room and soothing spa. Here are our favorites.
It is not always true that the way you dress is the way you decorate your home. Sometimes, it can be quite opposite. Joan Smalls’s recent beachy makeover on her Miami makeover is just such a great example. Totally different from her glamorous fashion style, her home is understated, calming, grounded and relaxing thanks to a lot of earthy tones and organic materials used in the house. Here are our favorites:

Finally, the world famous couple have opened doors to Architect Digest. Being honest with you, after I read the article, I looked at my desk and got rid of everything in front of me in 5 minutes. I guess that is the power of minimalism. Although I still couldn’t figure out how they make the space so pristine with their 4 kids, I love the whole white-on-white museum-like interiors. I feel how they did their current home is like they did it after a long long sought-after-thinking. Yes, let me put this way, the home looks very spiritual just like Kayne said it is a futuristic Belgian monastery thanks to design help from the famed Belgium designer Axel Vervoordt and Kayne’s own minimalism taste. Each room is just like a space with art installation. So, let’s take a look together.
Neutral Color Palette
The neutral color palette is the most effective way to create a soothing, relaxed home and serve as a backdrop for museum-level artwork. However, in order to make people look great under neutral shades, good lighting plays a critical factor.
The Pool Area
You may notice there is no Jacuzzi in this pool. But don’t worry because Kayne said they wanted the whole pool as Jacuzzi. And the design idea is to let the kids sit on the stairs and just enjoy warm water with cheers. How do you like the idea?
The Hallway
A soaring hallway is swathed in off-white plaster.
When Axel started to work on this project, he said they did a lot of editing and they wanted to make each space purer and purer. I totally can relate to that. As you know we live in such a chaos environment, every time when we come back home, we want to come back to calmness. I don’t know about you, I always try to make everything organized before I leave the house. So when I come back home, I feel good.

The living Room
In the living room, Royère upholstered seating surrounds a limestone cocktail table by Axel Vervoordt.
A Jean Royère chair and table in the living room. On wall, Anish Kapoor fiberglass sculpture.
So you can tell the couple really keeps furniture and decor minimum. But with the fireplace, comfy chairs and white textures rug, the space is quite warm, inviting and intimate.

The theme behind our Home for Holidays 2019/2020 is being festive yet without being too much traditional and ornate. We stay with a neutral color palette like pearl white, white-on-white, cream, various brown shades, wood tones while incorporating gold, silver, crystals, muted fashion-forward colors to light up the spaces. The flowers and greenery definitely make the spaces alive and cheerful.
For the dining room, we use light lavender hand-painted Chinoiserie wallpaper to create a very relaxing, calming and feminie feel which is balanced off by masculine dark brown upholtered dining chairs. Also we use a lot of large-scale sculpture-like vases and urns to mix and match with small delicate Christmas ornaments.
We use high and low items for this year’s Home for the Holidays. For the designer pieces, you can order through us and there some decor items you can order through Amazon.
