Pink is a pale shade of red that is named after a flower of the same name. It was first used as a color name in the late 17th century. According to surveys in Europe and the United States, pink is the color most often associated with charm, politeness, sensitivity, tenderness, sweetness, childhood, femininity and romance.
And today, pink has became a new neutral thanks to its versatility and multi-dimensional shades. Benjamin Moore’s 2020 Color of the Year, First Light 2102-70, is a soft, rosy pink hue.
Our color of in July is red. We have being talked about it for a while. Color of red is cheerful, warm, fashion-forward. At the same time, it can be romantic, classic and moody. Today we are going to share 15 living rooms. with a touch of red.
Iconic Lip Sofa
When we talk about color of red at home, the first thing that comes out of mind is probably Dali’s iconic lip sofa. Around 1935, Spanish artist Salvador Dalí saw something special in the face of movie star Mae West: an apartment. In a watercolor, he turned her blonde curls into portières, her eyes into paintings, her nose into a fireplace, and her lips into a divan. The last was a furnishing so provocative that British arts patron Edward James requested a three-dimensional version. The rest is the history.
The lip sofa is just such a sculptural piece that make a focal point at any space.

So, this Saturday we hiked Carbon Canyon Park in Orange County this Saturday. Carbon Canyon Regional Park is a regional park in Brea, California that was created after the Carbon Canyon Creek was dammed. It links up with Chino Hills State Park on the east side. The reason we hiked this park because of the Redwood Grove. But it turned out there were more fun here.
Yes. It was just amazing to visit this Butterfly Garden in Carbon Canyon Regional Park earlier in the morning. In the photo above, I was standing by a California Sage. They often call this white sage. But we just love the color.
Here comes the famous Redwood Grove in the park. Redwood is native to Northern California thanks to the rain and humid weather over there. We have been to Redwood forest in Northern California. It is pretty amazing but very dangerous too. Here in SoCal, these redwoods don’t grow as tall as those in Northern Cali and they are not as green either. But we can really appreciate this redwood grove right here.
We will say it is quite spiritual by just walking through the nice shade of this redwood grove.

The weather was nice on Saturday. Since we usually don’t have a long workout on Saturdays. We often plan to visit some places locally during this pandemic crisis. After all, we have being stayed at home too long. It is good to just scroll around local towns and get some inspiration, So far, we have visited DTLA China Town and Little Tokyo, so we decided to visit Pasadena this Saturday.
A little bit information about Pasadena here. Pasadena is a city in California, northeast of downtown Los Angeles. In the center, Old Pasadena is a shopping and dining district known for its Victorian and art deco buildings. The strikingly modern Norton Simon Museum houses notable European and Asian art, plus a sculpture garden. The Rose Bowl is a sports stadium known for hosting the Rose Bowl Game, an annual college football clash usually held on January 1. Read on to enjoy the local journey with us.
We had a scenic drive around Arroyo Seco area. The Arroyo Seco Bridge is pretty amazing. With its majestic arches rising 150 feet above the deeply cut Arroyo Seco, the Bridge was proclaimed the highest concrete bridge in the world upon completion in 1913. The bridge impressed travelers from the day it opened. Until then, the crossing of the Arroyo Seco required horses and wagons to descend the steep eastern slope, cross a small bridge over the stream, and then climb the west bank through Eagle Rock Pass. Given this harsh topography, the Colorado Street Bridge proved a challenge to design and build. Solid footing eluded engineers in the seasonally wet arroyo bed. Hopefully, we are able to get a better video when we drive through again. In case, you want to take a “country-in-the-city walk, check out this article from LA Times.
