Holiday 2020 Room Design Ideas–Reading Room Vignette

In the year of 2020, we want to go a little bit extra bold in our holiday show-house design. The reason is simple that we are all so desperate to go on a journey of adventure after we have stayed in our home for so long. As we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel( yes, several of vaccines for COVID-19 are coming), let’s still practice all of the safe social manners. And rather, let’s play a little bit of magic at home. In this year’s holiday show-house, we introduced some bold patterns such as leopard prints and folks art. We put things that don’t seem belong to each other together to create fun, playful and the one-of-the-kind holiday decor that helps express ourselves with some cheers and dreams in this special moment.

Spring House Tour—April

Fresh flowers, jewel tones, pastel color palette, floral patterns are the elements that make spring decor exciting, fresh and chic.  Here is the design project we did to perfect illustrate spring theme.  It’s feline, glamor, classical yet modern and well balanced off with masculine energy.

the lavender floral wallpaper perfectly plays with black-and-white checkered flooring.  It’s formal yet elegant with some drama.  Perfect for hallway design.

Red velvet upholstered dining chairs truly make a bold and passionate statement for this French-flair dining room.  The blush curved settee lends a hand of casual elegance to this dining room.  The whole design scene reminds us that it’s spring and it’s party time.

We all want a serene corner at home where we can read and simply chill out.  This design vignette features gilded black lacquered console, artworks and an light lavender upholster reading chair.  The blue side table is an antique.

The lavender color continues to the kitchen which features subway tiles, black vintage range hood, white cabinetry and open shelves.

Spring Fresh Makeover

The weather has been really nice lately.  The roses in my backyard garden start to bloom.  And there was Valentine’s Day.  Therefore, I decided to do some spring make over a week ago.  The color palette I used here is magenta, pink,  lavender, gold and neutrals.  Here are some vignettes I love to share here:

Playing different shades of pink. Love the pale pink table cloth which makes everything look so soft and subtle.  Gold truly adds a touch of sophistication and class to any space.

Beautiful blooms from my backyard. I mixed purple and hot pink together.  It’s fashionable, chic and cheerful.

A Traditional Reading Room with a Modern Twist

In a rainy day,  we love to cuddle up in this cozy and elegant reading room. The classic snow-white on tufted chairs and silk drapes gives this traditional oak-paneled reading room an immediate #modern fresh-up.   Symmetrical design adds formality while pop of hot pink makes space whimsical and feminine.

6 Tips to Create a Fashionable and Serene Space

August is the season of creation.  And you may want to try something new for the place you call home.  Remember, you can always start small.  Maybe it is a room or space you have thought a while and eager to get some ideas. Today, I would like to share 6 tips to create an elegant and  soothe space by using the project we just did as a case study.

1. The most important question before planning anything  is to ask yourself: what is the purpose of the room and how would you like to use it? For this case, the client would like to create a serene space where she can truly relax and read books.

2. Next, choose the color palette you love with a little drama. For this reading room, we used the color palette of gray, pale blue, cream and peach to create a very serene atmosphere. Then we used a touch of gold to make the space look upscale and classy.  The client has a very cheerful personality.  Therefore, we introduced the jewelry tones.  With pops of jewelry tones on the decor books, the space looks fashionable and youthful.

3. Have pieces of quality unique furniture to reflect your taste.  We handpicked every piece for this room based on what the client favors.  They are truly one-of-a-kind.

4. Details matter: have a beautiful tray to create a charming vignette for storytelling.

5. If possible, always have drapery panels to create timeless elegancy.

6. Having flowers everywhere is always a very feminine and fresh touch.
