Guys, Happy valentine’s Day! It has been raining whole day here in Los Angeles. It’s a perfect day to enjoy my little world of romance on this raining day. Yet I wish everyone out there safe and stay out of the rain.
I am still in the process to work out our spring collections in fashion, home and art. It has been a a fun journey so far. Spring is all about hope, freshness, flowers, greenery, everything beautiful in mother nature. I have been inspired by nature and by all of the new designs in 2019 everyday. For the vignette I created for Valentine’s Day, it is about all of these—fun, romantic and boho chic:
Hello, everyone, here is our part II tile trends in 2019. If you haven’t red the part I, please click here to learn more
I recently attended Daltile designer event for the showcase of new tile products. I feel it is pretty amazing specially I can find the local manufactures who custom-made such fashionable and cool design tiles right here in our backyard. Here are 2 of trends I observed from the showcase:
Moroccan tile influence : Moroccan tiles are famous for its hand-made quality, its uniqueness, fun patterns and craftsmanship. People start to bring these vibes to machine-made ceramic tiles with lower cost and much-faster lead time. Here are some samples I found from the showcase:
2. Color, color, color : there will be more bold colors for tile design in 2019. I did a lot of grey tile projects in the past several years and I am open to some fashionable and bold colors.
I found coral and red at the showcase. The colors do make me feel excited:
When the sun shines through the windows, that is when magic happens. We realize it is spring time. Fresh, fashionable and feminine, this IS the theme for our Spring Story collection in fashion, home and art:
Finally, the rain stops today here in Los Angeles after a whole-week wet weather. And as usual, we start to enjoy sunshine. When the sun shines through the windows, that is when magic happens. We realize it is spring time. Fresh, fashionable and feminine, this the theme for our Spring Story collection in fashion, home and art.
I like to use tiles for my projects since tiles are one of surface coverings that are super easy to clean, no off-gas and add interesting design elements to any interior space. If you are planning a renovation project this year, you may want to know what are the trends for tiles in 2019. Here are 5 trends I summarized by looking through the new designs on internet and trade shows:
Trend 1–While the large-format size tiles are getting larger, the revival of the small format floor is real this year. Small-size tiles with fashionable colors and irregular shapes truly give the design more fun and flexibility. I used to choose large-format tiles for our statement powder room design (see below), but now, I choose 3″x8″ sky-blue tiles for one of our newest powder-room projects:
Check out before-and-after video and see how we incorporate small-size hand made tiles with hand-painted wallpaper for this powder room design.
And here are are more small-size tile applications:
Trend 2— Geometric Accents:
There are two main inspirations that are quite fresh for 2019. Art Deco, organic inspired graphic design, and simple lines or un-pretentious geometry.
In case you just want to have a quick make-over of your kitchen, re-painting your kitchen cabinets might be one of the fastest ways to achieve this goal. Hope you celebrated green and had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day yesterday. We always love St. Patrick’s day not because it’s fun and cool, also because it is usually the time for us to kick off the season of Spring entertaining. Specially after the several times of raining showers, everything in our garden just starts blooming. So, of course, inspired by the warm and clear sunshine and beautiful blooms in our garden, we decided to have a causal in-home celebration by cooking comfy Irish beef stew and put up an organic spring-theme tabletop to enjoy. You may want to do the same thing too, but may be just intimated by the complicated task and think maybe the other time. Well, life is about celebrating every moment. We are celebrating by doing and engaging as much as we can. Therefore, it is much more fun for memories and does excise your creative muscles a lot. But there are some simple ways to make in-home entertaining much less a daunted task. Here are 7 tips we would love to share to make spring entertaining fun, simps and stylish.
Just go to the outdoor and go to your backyard garden. You will be inspired by nature a lot and make you desire to bring nature to home. Since our garden is blooming, we just got everything from the garden—grass, roses, wild flowers, branches, herbs…
2. Please don’t wrap up your fine china and put them away at somewhere you even cannot find. Yes, please display your chinaware at the place you can easily see. Therefore, you always want to use them.
3. Plan, plan, plan. Write down the theme and food you would like to serve. For St. Patrick’s day table top, we wanted to celebrate the season of spring, so we had a lot of green-leaf veggies and in-season colorful root veggies. The next is to prepare the menu. For ours menu is mainly Irish beef stew with some green veggie cakes and green-leaf salad. We actually cooked the beef stew a night before in a slower cooker.
4. Well, just sit back and enjoy.
5. Take time to take the photos for what you just do and you will be inspired to host next party.
Finally, we have a little bit cooler weather, about 90 degree. The daily temperature of the whole week is averaged at 100 degree. So I regard today’s weather is a big bless. Yes, and it is Friday. Friday’s color palette should be relaxing, soothe, cheerful yet something that gives you a totally fresh feeling and make you want to take a weekend adventure.
