From Maria Sharapova’s L.A. Home to See 7 Features of New Modern Design

Maria Sharapova was very engaged with her new LA home in the process of design, construction and furnishing. She knew exactly what she was looking for since she travels a lot and home is where she ultimately relaxes and chills out. Without doubt,  she is a minimalism and wouldn’t want anything she doesn’t feel need. So you properly can imagine how neat her living space is. But one thing I admire  her taste is that although there is a very modern and  clean color scheme, her LA home is quite warm and inviting thanks to her savy art collections of many years and textures she decided to use. So here are 7 take-aways we learned from her  LA home to create warm and inviting modern design.

  1. Have a vignette for the vintage pieces.

The vintage wood bench truly relaxes the space covered with large concrete pieces.

    2.  Add artwork and floral arrangement.

    3. Incorporate wood furniture to invite warmth.

5. Have drapes even through it is a sheer panel to add softness to the space.AD070119_SHARAPOVA_03.jpg

6. Have a functional fireplace.

A Mix-and-Match Living Room

From beginning of the year, we truly have fun to mix and match the room designs for the projects.  There are several key factors to bring everything together with harmony in a depth:

  1. Repeat the color palette to get the flow going.
  2. Use same colors but in different shades.
  3. Use same colors but in different textures.
  4. Laying the room to bring interest and depth to the room.
  5. Always pick up colors from area rugs or artworks for the rest of furnishings.
  6. Muted neutrals provide the best backdrop.

Here is a living room we just designed.  The patterns, textures and colors in the artwork is the key to inspire the overall decor.

Chic Breakfast Nook
Chic Breakfast Nook

It was  so cloudy in LA this morning. Then the sun came out.   it becomes very sunny now— the best way to beat Monday blues.  One of my favorite things to do on Mondays  is to sit by the breakfast nook window and enjoy my coffee while scheduling the whole week.  Pink, blush and grey are three colors on my mind. Maybe because of the weather? Wood and checkered pattern are kind of cheering me up. It is so interesting how colors, textures and materials can influence our mind.

Have a Wonderful Monday
