Frieze Los Angeles returns after the sold-out success of its inaugural edition last year and quite a few high-end furniture showrooms put up very impressed curated art displays together with their new furniture collections. From today, we will start to blog a series on art & design.
About artist Jeff Quinn: Jeff Quinn was born in 1964 in Bucks County, Pa. Jeff graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1986 with a BFA in Painting. Residing in New York for 33 years, Jeff has worked numerous shows, group shows and commissions. In 2003 he presented his first show for Ralph Pucci, and is currently teaching drawing and painting at the Parsons School of design. In May 2012 Jeff created a painted installation of over 3,000 square feet of floor and walls for Ralph Pucci during ICFF’s furniture design week.
Marjorie Salvaterra is an award-winning photographer, based in LA, who joined Ralph Pucci in 2017.
Maria Sharapova was very engaged with her new LA home in the process of design, construction and furnishing. She knew exactly what she was looking for since she travels a lot and home is where she ultimately relaxes and chills out. Without doubt, she is a minimalism and wouldn’t want anything she doesn’t feel need. So you properly can imagine how neat her living space is. But one thing I admire her taste is that although there is a very modern and clean color scheme, her LA home is quite warm and inviting thanks to her savy art collections of many years and textures she decided to use. So here are 7 take-aways we learned from her LA home to create warm and inviting modern design.
Have a vignette for the vintage pieces.
2. Add artwork and floral arrangement.
3. Incorporate wood furniture to invite warmth.
4. Master indoor-and-outdoor living style to make the space alive and livable.
5. Have drapes even through it is a sheer panel to add softness to the space.
6. Have a functional fireplace.
7. Have a lot of textures and plush pillows.
Hope you find above information helpful.

Wouldn’t be nice we have this long weekend holiday and it’s in May. It’s such a beautiful season to pamper ourselves with all of Spring beauties. My favorite are always about blue-and-whites, greenery, pink blooms, gardens, sunshine, fresh air… How about you? How are you going to celebrate MemorialLong-weekend?
It’s summer time. Wouldn’t you agree with me that there is always a lot of fun to change a little bit here and there in home ? Truly, life is really about living every day beautifully. For this restyling project in the video, we did several changes:
Mother’s day is just several days away. We have created the beautiful interior vignettes to honor this special holiday to cherish motherhood, femininity, generosity, gentleness, kindness, care and love. Mother Teresa said : “Mother is the heart of the home.” We believe that home is a place that makes us feel beautiful and loved. The color palette of the vignette we created below is pastels mixed with a pop of saturated colors and neutral tones to express femininity , passion and gentleness.
The inspiration for Fall 2016 color palette is led by the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism. The top ten colors begin with the introduction of a neutral: the cool and restful gray, PANTONE 17-3914 Sharkskin (new). It’s edgy yet dependable, can be paired with any of the fall colors.
For the hallway project, we painted sharkskin grey on the accent wall to create calm yet fresh backdrop for classic furniture–warm-tone mahogany console and gilded mirror. The application of this gray shade also adds a touch of modern flair in the space. It’s truly timeless. The vignette is just like a classic still-life painting, making you want to stop and be present with the moment.
September is here! Times just goes so fast. I still feel we just started a new 2016. And now it’s September! When fall starts, we are naturally attracted to the saturated warm colors. I am on the same path, too. I like colors. Inspired by Pantone Fall 2016 colors, we created room vignettes for 2016 fall season. I am so excited to share with you right here. On today’s blog, I am going to show you a super warm, fashionable and chic living room by using Pantone Spicy Mustard, Aurora red, Riverside and Airy Blue.
Spicy mustard is warm and inviting just like the sunlights in the fall. We light it up a little bit and used it on the paneling walls paired it with bold Aurora Red on a channel-back long sofa with fringe trims. The whole theme is now becoming chic and sexy. The living room is no longer grandma’s yellow sunny room, but with a touch of Hollywood glamor. Both Riverside and Airy Blue are accents colors in this room. We used them on the table lamp, decorative objects to infuse the space with some cool fresh feelings. Here is the room:
We have talked about this sofa on our blog before. Now we used in this room. Again, channel-back sofa is in and we love the vintage yet still very modern and feminine feeling.
The floral pattern upholstered chair is so elegant and feminine. The shades of pink, red, green, blue and yellow on the chair create a such nice contrast with saturated mustard and red colors. Don’t you agree that althrough we are attracted to warm fall colors in the Fall season, we still desire a chill of spring feel? So why not make it happen in our home?
The gilded bench picks up the mustard color from the wall. Now we see there is a conversation going on.
The dark brown shade on iron chandelier kind of balances off the saturated warm colors in the space yet the sparkling crystals on the lighting still emphasize the elegance . The clean-line shape of the chandelier is a nice contrast with the curved sofa and bench.
The chevron pattern lamp shades are custom-made. The pattern adds youthfulness to the space to make it fun and playful.
Royale blue vase is a jewelry box in the room.
Truly love these oversized vases. They add a modern flair into the room.
Love this flower shape plate.
Love the trim on the table by the long red sofa— very cotour.
This black-white art work with gold frame anchored the whole room.
Let us know how you like the room and colors. Most items here are custom-made, if you are interested in any of them. Please contact us.
Maybe because it’s almost end of August, we start to be drawn to more saturated colors. Anyway, a quick tip for creating a chic vignette—always incorporate one or two pieces of brass objects to create fresh, cheerful, happy, classy and modern vibes.
